Orlando Sport Guide
Golf is a tremendously popular sport around Orlando, with many courses available for visitors to enjoy. The PGA Tour also visit Orlando, with the famous Bay Hill Invitational being held at the Bay Hill Club in early March each year. The most recent winner was Australian Rod Pampling, taking only his second victory on the US Tour, defeating Englishman Greg Owen by one shot, with a -14 total. Pampling won a pretty impressive $900,000 for his troubles, as well as a prestigious title.
When it comes to other major sporting events Orlando tends to be a starting point for a short trip to see the action, with Miami being perhaps the most popular location in Florida. The Superbowl for example has been played there more than anywhere else other than New Orleans, and is set to take the record solely for itself in the next couple of years, with the showpiece event scheduled for Miami once again.
NASCAR is another big sport in the USA and another that people in Orlando need to travel to see. Races are held around the state but not in Orlando itself, which is another reason to take car hire here, with roads that are so easy to drive on it is no problem to hit the interstate and see more of Florida along the way to a race meeting or other big event.

On Monday night the Orlando Magic went down by 95 to 86 at the Memphis Grizzlies. The difference came in the fourth quarter, where the Magic could only manage 6 points in contrast to the Grizzlies 22. Orlando held a 7 point lead (80-73) with 5:32 remaining in the fourth but couldn’t hold the strong offensive play by the Grizzlies.
Prior to this game the Grizzlies had been on a seven game losing streak so were delighted to turn that around here. This was in contrast to the Orlando Magic’s four game winning streak prior to the game.
